Dueto Carménère 2019
The Dueto 2019 Carménère is quite simply a delicious wine. Made from hand picked and selected grapes in the Almahue Valley (a sub region of the Cachapoal Valley) in Chile.
Dueto Carménère has a deep purple color, and presents luscious fruit, perfectly balanced acidity and tannins with just a hint of the famous subtle green notes of great Carménères.
Dueto is aromatic, medium bodied with layers raspberries and plum with hints of chocolate and spiciness, all perfectly balanced, with a long finish. Alcohol 14.5% by volume. 240 cases made and imported.
Tim Atkin: Elegant and refined, especially for a Carmenere, this walks the tightrope between greenness and over-ripeness, the twin poles of Carmenère, with agility and aplomb. Red berry fruit, a hint of capsicum, fine tannins and a core of red plum and chocolate. Refreshing and engaging.”
Score: 92 points
Wine Notes: Our favorite unoaked Carménère ever. This one has everything. Score 92 pts.
Duo Carménère 2019
The Duo 2019 Carménère is quite simply (we think) the best Carménère Chile has to offer. This one makes Purple Angle blush. The grapes come from a small vineyard “block” in the Ammahue Valley. After careful leaf-pulling and sun drenched ripening whole bunches are hand picked and selected. After cold soaking and whole berry fermentation the fruit gives up some succulent juice indeed. This outstanding wine is then aged in 100% new Taransaud French Oak barrels for two years.
Duo Carménère has a deep purple color, and presents luscious fruit, perfectly balanced acidity and tannins with just a hint of the famous subtle green notes of great Carménères, and then layered with the complexity and mouth feel that only barrel ageing can imbue.
